art and movies

The Fashion Institute of Technology is currently exhibiting Fashion from the Inside Out the work of Isabel Toledo (the designer that designed Michelle Obama's dress for the inauguration)

Also on exhibit at The Museum at FIT is Fashion & Politics an exhibition that examines how clothing has affected social change. This show features the works of Catherine Malandrino, Vivienne Tam and many others.
Sorry photos were not permitted . If you are interested in fashion design and politics, then this is a show that you should not miss. Open until November 7.

Jaume Plensa's installation In the Midst of Dreams in on display at the Galerie Lelong .
I discovered this Spanish artist while on vacation in Barcelona a few years ago.
This is a wonderful exhibit so serene yet powerful, the sculptures are made of polyester, resin, fiber glass and the pebbles on the floor are marble.

Open until October 24. http://www.galerielong.com/

Wil Ryman's A New Beginning at the Marlborough Gallery. Sculptures of roses in a distorted large scale (2 feet-7 feet high) I kind of felt like Alice in Wonderland as I walked around pretty amazing. Open until October 10.

If you enjoy fashion and are a loyal reader of Vogue magazine.....well then skip on down to the theater in your stilettos to see it. Very entertaining and interesting to see how Madam Anna Wintour operates. It was also nice to see footage of her creative director Grace Coddington, since I have been a long time fan of her work.
The September Issue

Cute film about relationships and how when you are in one there is always one half that lives in reality and the other in a fantasy. It was not great cute and OK . Nice soundtrack love Carla Bruni-Sarkozy's song 'Quelqu 'un Ma Dit ( and yes she is the first lady of France).
(500) Days of Summer.
