Also on exhibit at The Museum at FIT is Fashion & Politics an exhibition that examines how clothing has affected social change. This show features the works of Catherine Malandrino, Vivienne Tam and many others.
Sorry photos were not permitted . If you are interested in fashion design and politics, then this is a show that you should not miss. Open until November 7.

Jaume Plensa's installation In the Midst of Dreams in on display at the Galerie Lelong .
I discovered this Spanish artist while on vacation in Barcelona a few years ago.
This is a wonderful exhibit so serene yet powerful, the sculptures are made of polyester, resin, fiber glass and the pebbles on the floor are marble.

Open until October 24. http://www.galerielong.com/

Wil Ryman's A New Beginning at the Marlborough Gallery. Sculptures of roses in a distorted large scale (2 feet-7 feet high) I kind of felt like Alice in Wonderland as I walked around pretty amazing. Open until October 10.

If you enjoy fashion and are a loyal reader of Vogue magazine.....well then skip on down to the theater in your stilettos to see it. Very entertaining and interesting to see how Madam Anna Wintour operates. It was also nice to see footage of her creative director Grace Coddington, since I have been a long time fan of her work.
The September Issue

Cute film about relationships and how when you are in one there is always one half that lives in reality and the other in a fantasy. It was not great cute and OK . Nice soundtrack love Carla Bruni-Sarkozy's song 'Quelqu 'un Ma Dit ( and yes she is the first lady of France).
(500) Days of Summer.

Buenos Dia!

Just had my tinto(black coffee) and as you can see my lovely Dutch tulips greeted me this morning.
Inspired by the movie  Julie Julia this Fall/Winter I am going to make all the recipes that are in the Barefoot Contessa cookbook. I hope I make Ina Garten (the author and celebrity chef) proud. Pictures of my trials and errors to follow soon.
Julia Julia is playing in theaters right now and I highly recommend it funny and inspiring. You will want to eat and drink your heart out after the film.

National Musuem of the American Indian

The National Museum of the American Indian is currently running an exhibition called Identity by Design ( how appropriate since we are in fashion week :) Wow they had the most beautiful dresses with exquisite beading such artistic expression. It is amazing that in their culture dress designing served as a way to pass spiritual, artistic and historical memories from one generation to the next.
Go on grab your Metro card and check out the exhibit and the gift shop. Entrance to the museum is free!

NY Harbor Day

I ventured down to the NY Harbor festival at Bowling Green this past weekend. It was an event celebrating NYC's waterfronts and our friendship with the Dutch. I enjoyed a really great all male band that played 'Sweet Caroline' .They were awesome. I especially loved the bright orange clogs that the men were wearing. Along with the windmill, indoor greenhouse, tulips!!!!one of my favorite flowers and as you can see in the picture some Dutch tulips came home with me:) Ohh...but the best was the STROOPWAFFLES which are wafer cookies with caramel inside...yumo! Every time someone travels to Amsterdam...I always request some Stroops.....and yes I purchased two packs, I could not resist.
I had a wonderful day at New Amsterdam Village in NYC.....and I did not need a passport...just a Metro card.
