a little jazz

hola! last night i went to see the legendary jazz musician
wynton marsalis and his band perform at......

dizzy's club coca-cola in the time warner center.
the performance was spectacular as expected.

the setting was intimate...

and the service and food was great.
i highly recommend dizzy's if you are into jazz
music and want to see some great artist.
go with friends, family a date or alone...just go!

dinner at dmc's

hola! last night, my friend dmc invited me and and our
 pal ms v. to his place for a super cozy dinner.

the menu which we received ahead of time
 via email....love that detail dmc!
appetizer: homemade chicken feet stock with
 avocado cilantro and lime.
seriously this soup was off the hook as the
 teens would say.

main course: roasted chicken thighs with rosemary,lemon
and garlic.

adding to the main course:
winter vegetable medley with buckwheat, yam cauliflower
 and broccoli.
salad: mixed greens with roasted pear, celery, cucumber.
 walnuts, goat cheese
and red onion.
as you can see in the above picture...i feasted!

plenty of drinks....

 dessert:pineapple with blood orange glaze
and coconut chocolates.........divine!

eating out at restaurants in nyc is always a fun
experience, but it never tops a home cooked meal
made with love and shared with friends.

hola! i hope you all are enjoying the holidays.
the masterpiece above is a photo of the latin turkey
that i made for noche buena(christmas eve).

 i am happy to report that this 16 pound bird was juicy and
super delish.

1st day of winter

hola! today is the 1st day of winter and can you believe
the temperature in in the late 50's here in nyc??
oh well...i am hanging on to the nice weather just
like mr. knick claus is hanging on to his hoop.

arroz frito

hola! about a month ago my sister and i went out for some thai food,
she ordered the pineapple shrimp fried rice which is one of
my favorites, later that evening i thought to myself that was
 yummy, i think i can make that.....a little research and viola!
my homemade version!
