happy halloween

happy halloween!
i know this picture is a little gross, but my friend nicola sent it
to me so well i had to share.
hopefully it will remind me not to eat too many sweets today.

soups on

hola! cold weather is creeping over nyc and all i
want to eat is soup!
so i made a roasted pepper soup with orange and basil.

 viola!
and to add to the cozy soup factor......

i roasted a whole pumpkin.......

and made pumpkin soup served in a pumpkin of course.
i hope you all are getting cozy in the kitchen this fall :)

say it ain't snow. in october?

yes all, we received our first snow today in nyc.
i say back up frosty, i am trying to enjoy my autumn.

hola! first came the gifted apples....

then the filling.....

then pie crust making...i found this part daunting at first
then i got over it, the directions were super simple.

viola!! deep-dish apple pie!

this was my first time making a pie(i was so excited!) and as the
barefoot contessa
stated in her book," i think this is the quintessential apple pie"
