barefoot and cooking

Barefoot Contessa Family Style: Easy Ideas and Recipes That Make Everyone Feel Like Family
the barefoot contessa. yes i know i stated a while back after seeing the movie julie &julia that i would make all the recipes in Ina's cook book.
The Barefoot Contessa Cookbook
yes i am behind on that task and please note i changed cook books, i love them all but decided to make all the recipes in her family style edition instead. (works better for entertaining).
below are a few photos of  some of  the delicious creations.

tequila lime chicken.

tomato, mozzarella & basil.

slow cooked scrambled eggs with herbs.

parmesan chicken.

fresh fruit with honey vanilla yogurt.

roasted winter vegetables.

roasted vegetable soup.

real meatballs & spaghetti.
( the pinch of nutmeg in this recipe was a great touch!)

so far this barefoot contessa has no complaints, all the recipes were easy to make and all came out pretty tasty.
more to come!
yum yum!

happy halloween

trick or treat? i like treats.

leopard print

i keep hearing and reading that leopard is so in now, the staple to have in your wardrobe for fall.
so here is a updated news flash...when was it ever out of style? it's a classic! you just have to know how to wear it.

jackie understood that it was a staple and a classic in a women's wardrobe.

 mrs. o understands.

i get it and have a few essential pieces like my fave coat above.

.
now that we all understand...can someone please buy me this celine bag?

dreaming of morocco

happy vendredi!
i love this image! looks like something straight out of national geographic or something right?

no...these stunners were taken by my dear friend and exceptional photographer dewayne phillips while in morocco on a recent bike trip.

and look what treats dewayne and caroline graced me with upon their arrival......

traditional moroccan slippers! and a little mirror which is made out of camel bone and dyed in saffron.
ohh... my! they just made this gitana's world a bit more hippier.
merci !dewayne and caroline for sharing your stories, photos and gifts from your amazing adventure in morocco.

ana tzarev

while returning from a appointment yesterday in the west 50's my eye was drawn to these vibrant books in a window....

absolutely beautiful!!

well it turns out those colorful books are part of an exhibit by the croatian artist ana trarev. the gallery bears her name which features her paintings and sculptures along with various internationally know artists during different times.

the space is amazing two floors spiral stairs and all.......

filled with magnificent sculptures and paintings..........

i had never heard of the artist or the gallery but am happy to have discovered it. i will be returning to see future exhibits and will also be saving my pennies to purchase one of her books- $200 each :)

click here for more info on the artist and gallery.
a must see ! according to this gitana.
go check it out and let me know what you think.
oh...the photos above are from the current exhibit called "legends of asia" on until 12/4.
